COVID-19 Relief: Help Beyond the Food Drives

Updated: Nov 28, 2020

Helping South Florida families get the resources they need during a global pandemic.

The Food Distribution Era

Drive-up food distribution sites are the new normal for many cities across the United States. Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020, millions of people have lost their jobs and required help. Many local officials and organizations created these drive-up food distribution sites to keep social distancing guidelines while helping families in need. But what happens to the families that don’t have a car?

Delivering Hope in a Pandemic

Lack of transportation is a common problem for many South Florida families. So how can they get the food they most desperately need? That's why we stepped in.

No family should go hungry because they don't have a car.

Through our partnership with ??? our Care Team delivered food boxes to 290 family homes across Miami-Dade. With an average of three people per household, 870 individuals were fed. But that's not all. Diapers were also distributed to the families we serve, thanks to ???. They donated 5000 diapers to ConnectFamilias, helping ??? parents.

How We Continue to Help

While much of the community was at a standstill, we continued our efforts to provide care to our families. We quickly shifted our services to online platforms and helped our families gain internet access through our partnership with ???.

Since April 2020, we've seen a 500% increase in requests for assistance. Through our partnership with the United Way Miami Pandemic Assistance Program, we've provided rental and mortgage assistance, food donations, and other financial support to families in need across Miami-Dade County.
